Fax Client Installation

Rainmail Server includes a default Fax client for Windows Operating System. The steps given below can be used to install and configure the Fax client:

  1. Open Rainmail Server default home page. It will contain a link to Fax client as shown below

  1. Click on Hylafax client - whfc. This will download the Fax client executables in a zip file. There will be two versions of the Executable, one for Windows 98 and another for Windows XP.
  2. Extract the file for Windows XP (Name whfc-1.2.4-nt_setup.exe) and run the file. It will display the following dialog.

  1. Click on Next >. That will bring up the following dialog.

  1. Click on I Agree. That will bring up the following dialog.

  1. Click on Next >. That will bring up the following dialog

  1. Click on Install. The Fax client will be installed and on successful completion, following dialog will be displayed.

  1. Click Finish to complete the installation and start configuration. That will display the following dialog.

  1. From the Fax menu, select System preferences. That will bring up the following dialog.

  1. In the above dialog, enter Rainmail Server IP address (obtained using Get User Profile from Email address) in the Hostname field.
  2. Click on OK.
  3. Fax client will try to connect to the server. If it is not able to connect to the server, an error will be thrown up. If that is the case, check if the Hostname parameter is entered properly before proceeding further.
  4. From the Fax menu, select User preferences. That will bring up the following dialog

  1. In the above dialog
    • Enter user's full name in Name field.
    • Enter user's Rainmail account name (obtained using Get User Profile from Email address) in the Login field.
    • Enter user's Email address in the E-Mail field.
    • Click on OK
  2. That will bring up the following dialog

  1. Click on Yes. Close the Fax client window.
  2. The fax client has been installed successfully. We will now proceed to install a Fax Printer to send faxes.
  3. The following steps are given for Windows 7.
  4. From Windows, click on Start, and select Devices and Printers. That will bring up the following dialog.

  1. Click on Add a printer. That will bring up the following dialog.

  1. Select Add a local printer. That will bring up the following dialog.

  1. Select Use an existing port: and from the list choose WHFCFAX: (WHFC Faxprinter port) and click on Next. That will bring up the following dialog.

  1. Select HP in Manufacturer List and select HP LaserJet 5200 Series PCL5. Click on Next. That will bring up the following dialog.

  1. Enter Printer name: as Hylafax Fax Printer and click on Next. The fax printer will be installed and the following dialog displayed.

  1. Select Do not share this printer and click on Next. That will display the following dialog.

  1. Uncheck the Set as the default printer check box and click on Finish. Now you will see the new Fax printer added (as shown below)

  1. Fax client installation is successful and now you can start sending faxes right from your Desktop!
